Camping on the Oregon Coast

We got to get out of the Portland and head to the Coast to spend a few days as a family. Camping has been on our minds for a while this summer, and we decided that this was the week we were going to make it happen. Needless to say, we had a blast and were glad we got out there. So I will overwhelm you with a few pictures of our time at the coast.

This is our little happy camper and her three pearly whites. She did an excellent job being out in a new environment. We were glad she had fun eating all the dirt and sand any chance she could get when our backs were turned.

It was chilly, but we managed to get a little wet

Daddy even got a chance to chill and relax, always something good for this hard working man.

Evidence of much sand that was eaten. Later we found more evidence in her diaper. Apparently it tasted good because she would just take her tongue and lick it. Silly girl!

Even 29 year olds have fun building sand castles. Yes this isn't as huge as others on the beach, but I was pretty proud of my little fortress.

Here is the front

Here is the Queen of the fortress.

My favorie part. The trees. I will admit I was pretty proud of these as well!

Just a few snapshots of the sun going down on the beach.

Our last morning we got up to go out during low tide. So here are a couple of our finds.

After our walk we came back to camp and I got to snuggle my little camper. Not too often does this happen with our mover, so I soak it in when I can.

Our little campsite!

Our happy camping family.

Lots of fun camping. If you want to come and join us feel free. We have more plans to get out this August. So come along or stay tuned for more pictures!!!

Great pictures Jeanette! Maia's teeth are coming in fast and furious, aren't they? She's darling, just like you and Michael. I'm so glad you three got to get away as a family. It looks like a lot of fun and relaxation by all. Thanks for sharing!

Oh and your sandcastle was great! And how did you all three fit in that tent, and change clothes and diapers and things? It looks backpacking size, not family of three camping size! Fun times!

Was this Maia's first camping experience? And you got to go for a whole week??!! I'm jealous. Such a beautiful place to go. We do miss the ocean.
That was quite the impressive sand castle. I want to know however did you make it like that without your little almost one year old mover and shaker moving and shaking the whole thing to pieces? That is the real feat of the castle, it seems to me:) Maia sure does look like she's getting bigger.

Maia was busy destroying my outposts, so she didnt get the castle. That and clapping huge handfuls of seaweed together. We went for two nights, not a week, and the first night was kind of rough because yes, we didn't fit in our tent. Then we figured out that if I scrunched down and we put Maia sideways at our heads, she could sleep better. But we've solved that problem! Jeanette has since found us a $7.00 family-size camping tent at a garage sale! Yay Jeanette! ! ! -Michael

Yeah, we have a little tent too, because we got two small tents at our wedding so that Andrew and Will could have their own and we could too. However when we took our first baby camping it was hard to sleep with him scrunched between us. That was the time we saw you at Bowman! Anyway, we're excited to have Mom's full-size tent this year!

yeah for camping. Holly, now you have to go camping, sometime in between the swim lessons. Good bargain hunting Jeanette! Michael you look so relaxed, but I know that for Jeanette to build such an awesome castle, you must have been busy. We need a family camping trip altogether or maybe a multitude of trips.
love you,
Mom
